แม้โชติปาลมาณพจะยังไม่เลื่อมใสในพระกัสสปพุทธเจ้า แต่ฆฏิการะมิได้ย่อท้อ กลับใช้ความอดทน ความจริงใจ และมิตรภาพอันบริสุทธิ์ ชักชวนเพื่อนให้เข้าเฝ้าพระพุทธองค์ จนในที่สุดโชติปาลมาณพเกิดศรัทธาและตัดสินใจออกบวช ซึ่งกลายเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญของชีวิต
พระสูตรยังกล่าวถึงการที่พระกัสสปพุทธเจ้าทรงยกย่องฆฏิการะต่อ พระเจ้ากิกิ ว่าเป็นอุบาสกผู้เลิศ ผู้มีความละอายต่อบาป ประกอบสัมมาอาชีพ และดูแลบิดามารดาผู้ตาบอดด้วยความกตัญญู แม้ต้องรับภาระทางโลกก็ไม่ละทิ้งคุณธรรมและศรัทธา

The Ghaṭīkāra Sutta: The Potter and the Path to Peace in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Scholars of Buddhism, ethics, and Artificial Intelligence have proposed applying the teachings of the Ghaṭīkāra Sutta to the ethical development of AI, emphasizing that genuine friendship, gratitude, and moral integrity are essential foundations for sustainable peace in the digital age.
The discourse recounts how the Buddha smiled and spoke of a previous life during the era of Kassapa Buddha. At the center of the story is Ghaṭīkāra, a humble potter renowned for his unwavering faith, and his close friend Jotipāla, who would later become Gotama Buddha.
Although Jotipāla initially showed little interest in meeting Kassapa Buddha, Ghaṭīkāra patiently encouraged him with sincerity, compassion, and steadfast friendship. Eventually, Jotipāla met the Buddha, developed profound faith, and chose to renounce worldly life in pursuit of enlightenment.
The Buddha also praised Ghaṭīkāra before King Kiki as an exemplary lay disciple who cared devotedly for his blind parents, earned his livelihood honestly, possessed a deep sense of moral conscience, and remained faithful to the Dhamma despite worldly responsibilities.
Researchers suggest that the Sutta highlights the transformative power of spiritual friendship (Kalyāṇa-mittatā). Lasting change arises not through coercion but through trust, compassion, wisdom, and encouragement.
Applied to the age of Artificial Intelligence, these teachings suggest that AI should strengthen human cooperation, lifelong learning, and social trust rather than intensify division or unhealthy competition.
Scholars further recommend integrating gratitude, ethical responsibility, transparency, and care for vulnerable populations into AI governance. AI should support older adults, persons with disabilities, and disadvantaged communities while respecting human dignity and promoting fairness.
The study concludes that the Ghaṭīkāra Sutta teaches that true friendship can transform individual lives and, on a broader scale, inspire a culture of peace.
