The discourse teaches that those who have not penetrated the truth are easily influenced by the opinions and arguments of others, whereas those who truly understand reality remain steady and impartial.
In the sutta, a deity tells the Buddha that people who have not realized the Dhamma are led by the views of others. They are described as still asleep, and the present moment is the proper time for them to awaken.
The Buddha explains that those who have thoroughly understood the Dhamma are no longer carried away by external opinions or ideological pressure. Possessing clear wisdom, they understand reality correctly and conduct themselves with fairness and equanimity, even among people who remain divided by bias or misunderstanding.
Peace scholars observe that the Appaṭividdhita Sutta is especially relevant in today's information age, where misinformation, propaganda, social polarization, and ideological manipulation can easily influence public opinion. พระพุทธองค์ตรัสตอบว่า ผู้ที่แทงตลอดธรรมอย่างถูกต้อง ย่อมไม่หวั่นไหวไปตามกระแสความคิดเห็นหรืออคติของผู้อื่น เพราะมีปัญญาเห็นความจริงตามเหตุและปัจจัย บุคคลเช่นนี้สามารถวางตนอย่างมั่นคงและปฏิบัติต่อผู้อื่นด้วยความเสมอภาค แม้อยู่ท่ามกลางผู้ที่ยังมีความลำเอียงหรือความเห็นแตกต่าง

[๑๕] เทวดานั้น ครั้นยืนอยู่ ณ ที่ควรส่วนข้างหนึ่งแล้วแล ได้กล่าว คาถานี้ในสำนักพระผู้มีพระภาคว่า ธรรมทั้งหลายอันชนพวกใดยังไม่แทงตลอดแล้ว ชนพวกนั้น ย่อมถูกจูงไปในวาทะของชนพวกอื่น ชนพวกนั้นชื่อว่ายังหลับ ไม่ตื่น (กาลนี้) เป็นกาลสมควร เพื่อจะตื่นของชนพวกนั้น ฯ [๑๖] ธรรมทั้งหลาย อันชนพวกใดแทงตลอดดีแล้ว ชนพวกนั้น ย่อมไม่ถูกจูงไปในวาทะของชนพวกอื่น บุคคลผู้รู้ดีทั้งหลาย รู้ทั่วถึงโดยชอบแล้ว ย่อมประพฤติเสมอในหมู่สัตว์ผู้ ประพฤติไม่เสมอ ฯ
