Song: Break the Chains Within Inspired by the Catucakka Sutta
[Verse 1]
A restless heart keeps searching still,
Chasing every passing thrill.
Bound by anger, fear, and pride,
Peace is waiting deep inside.
Chasing every passing thrill.
Bound by anger, fear, and pride,
Peace is waiting deep inside.
[Verse 2]
Open every hidden door,
Carry hate and greed no more.
Leave the darkness far behind,
Free the body, free the mind.
Carry hate and greed no more.
Leave the darkness far behind,
Free the body, free the mind.
[Pre-Chorus]
Let love awaken,
Let truth begin.
The greatest battle
Lies within.
Let truth begin.
The greatest battle
Lies within.
[Chorus]
Break the chains within your soul,
Only then we'll all be whole.
Greed and hatred fade away,
Peace is born with each new day.
Hand in hand,
We'll rise above.
Building tomorrow
With wisdom and love.
Only then we'll all be whole.
Greed and hatred fade away,
Peace is born with each new day.
We'll rise above.
Building tomorrow
With wisdom and love.
[Bridge]
No more walls,
No more fear.
Every heart
Can make peace here.
From one small choice
The world can start,
Healing nations,
Heart to heart.
No more fear.
Every heart
Can make peace here.
The world can start,
Healing nations,
Heart to heart.
[Final Chorus]
Break the chains,
Set love free.
Light the path
For all to see.
When hearts awaken,
Wars will cease.
Together we'll become
The song of peace.
Set love free.
Light the path
For all to see.
Wars will cease.
Together we'll become
The song of peace.
[Ending]
"The strongest victory is not over another person, but over the greed, hatred, and ignorance within ourselves."
Catucakka Sutta: Removing Greed, Hatred, and Delusion — The Buddhist Path to Global Peace
The Catucakka Sutta presents a profound dialogue between celestial beings and the Buddha concerning liberation from suffering.
The devas asked:
"This body has four wheels and nine gates. It is filled with impurities, bound by greed, and stuck like mud. How can one escape from suffering?"
The Buddha replied that liberation becomes possible when one:
- Cuts off the bonds of anger,
- Breaks the chains of mental defilements,
- Abandons selfish desire and unwholesome greed,
- Uproots craving whose root is ignorance.
Only then can true freedom from suffering be attained.
Applied to global peacebuilding, the Catucakka Sutta teaches that wars, hatred, injustice, and social division are not merely political or economic problems.
Their deepest roots lie within the human mind.
Greed fuels exploitation.
Hatred fuels violence.
Ignorance fuels misunderstanding and fear.
Therefore, sustainable peace requires more than diplomacy or legislation.
It calls for inner transformation through mindfulness, wisdom, compassion, and ethical living.
When individuals overcome the roots of conflict within themselves, societies become more cooperative, just, and peaceful.
The Catucakka Sutta reminds humanity that lasting peace begins not by conquering others, but by conquering the greed, hatred, and delusion within ourselves.
