พระนันทกะยังใช้อุปมาอุปไมยที่ลึกซึ้ง เช่น แสงสว่างจากตะเกียงน้ำมัน ที่เกิดขึ้นเพราะอาศัยเหตุปัจจัย และ การแล่หนังโค เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการใช้ปัญญาตัดกิเลส เครื่องผูกมัด และอคติที่บดบังความจริงของชีวิต ทำให้ผู้ฟังเข้าใจหลักธรรมได้อย่างชัดเจนและเข้าถึงแก่นแท้ของการปฏิบัติ
นอกจากนี้ พระสูตรยังเน้นการเจริญ โพชฌงค์ 7 ได้แก่ สติ ธัมมวิจยะ วิริยะ ปีติ ปัสสัทธิ สมาธิ และอุเบกขา ซึ่งเป็นองค์ธรรมแห่งการตรัสรู้ ช่วยให้จิตใจมีความมั่นคง สงบ และสามารถหลุดพ้นจากอาสวะและกิเลสทั้งปวง

The discourse recounts how the Buddha appointed Venerable Nandaka to teach the Dhamma to 500 Buddhist nuns, led by Mahapajapati Gotami, the Buddha's foster mother and the first bhikkhuni. His teaching explained that the six internal sense bases, the six external sense objects, and the consciousness arising from their contact are all impermanent (anicca), unsatisfactory (dukkha), and non-self (anatta).
