On October 20, 2566 (2023), Mr. Nopadol Patama, a list MP for the Pheu Thai Party and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of Thailand, revealed that during the committee meeting, the situation in Israel and Gaza was examined by inviting three agencies, namely the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from the Ministry of Labour, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force. The committee expressed concern for Thai nationals affected by this situation and encouraged the government and related agencies to provide full assistance. The committee proposed six matters, namely
1. Expedite assistance for 17 Thai hostages through diplomatic and security channels 2. Accelerate the repatriation of 8,237 Thais as soon as possible, even if it means taking detour flights 3. Negotiate for air rights to fly directly across multiple countries
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee continued, saying 4. Ensure the safety of approximately 20,000 Thai workers in Israel and follow up on various rights and benefits for workers returning home 5. Call for the opening of humanitarian channels to provide aid to civilians affected by the situation promptly 6. Consider alternative employment opportunities in other countries or within Thailand for those who return
"The Foreign Affairs Committee is concerned about the protest situation occurring in many countries due to the events that are happening. It recommends that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assess the situation and warn Thais in various countries to be cautious," Mr. Nopadol said.
