On July 29, 2025, at 10:19 PM, Colonel Ritcha Suksuwanon, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, revealed that preliminary reports confirmed clashes had occurred at Phu Makuea and Chong An Ma. Small arms and grenades were fired at Thai bases on our side of the border approximately 30 minutes earlier.
Meanwhile, the Army Trend Updates page posted: “No sleep tonight, as expected! Cambodia violates [the ceasefire] again. Clashes erupt at Chong An Ma and Phu Makuea. Thailand defends itself.”
A security source in the area disclosed that in the area under Task Force 1 of the Suranaree Force, Cambodian troops had reinforced their numbers significantly, advancing from Wat Kaew and Wat Ai, as well as from Huai Ta Maria. In response, the Thai side instructed all units to be on full alert—100% readiness—and to take shelter in bunkers to prevent attacks by Cambodian forces around the Don Trawan Temple area. All units were ordered to be fully operational that night.
Clashes began at 8:45 PM at Chong An Ma, where Cambodian soldiers opened fire in an attempt to retake the position. The Thai side responded with return fire.
Drone Swarm Attacks Air Wing 21 – Anti-Drone Defense Activated
At 10:30 PM, a report indicated that a swarm of drones had entered the area near Air Wing 21. Thai air defense forces activated their anti-drone systems to intercept and counter the full-scale attack. Just the day before, around 30 drones had intruded into the area late at night just before the ceasefire deadline. In response, Air Wing 21 today issued the highest-level security alert and strict control measures for entry and exit in the area.
Ubon Ratchathani's Wing 21 Clarifies: No Drone Attack, Damage Caused by Thunderstorm and Strong Winds
Later, the official Facebook page “Wing 21” of Ubon Ratchathani Air Wing 21 posted a clarification stating that Wing 21 affirms the reports circulated by various pages and media outlets are not true. The damage was caused by a thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind, which led to damage to government property. This clarification is issued to prevent public panic among the residents of Ubon Ratchathani.
