The Thai government reaffirms that it maintains a gentlemanly military approach and does not engage in aggressive behavior like Cambodia. It stresses that Thailand is not yet ready to cease operations to safeguard its sovereignty, following a post by Hun Manet suggesting willingness to halt hostilities but expressing concern over a possible Thai reversal. Meanwhile, Cambodian forces have continued launching attacks on civilian targets in Surin and several other areas.
On July 27, 2025, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a member of the Special Border Operations Management Committee (SBOMC) for the Thai-Cambodian border, addressed the social media post by Hun Manet which read, “Cambodia agrees to a ceasefire, welcomes Thailand’s cooperation, and hopes Thailand won’t reverse its position. The Foreign Minister is assigned to negotiate.”
Mr. Jirayu stated that Hun Manet's remarks still lack sincerity and carry hidden agendas. His words also include sarcastic and disparaging undertones directed at Thailand, despite repeated confirmations from the Thai government that a ceasefire can only be achieved if Cambodia immediately stops attacking Thai civilian areas. It is evident that the Cambodian government spends time fabricating narratives to gain attention on the global stage, while its military actions remain aggressively contradictory.
At 6:01 AM on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Cambodian forces continued committing war crimes and acts of inhumanity by firing artillery across the border into Thai civilian areas. Thai citizens were injured in Ban Ta So Nueng, Ban Pluang Subdistrict, Prasat District, Surin Province. The shelling caused multiple homes to catch fire and resulted in numerous civilian injuries.
The Thai government asserts that the Cambodian military initiated the acts of war and continues to use brutal and inhumane methods by consistently targeting civilian areas and residences. There is abundant evidence recognized by the international community documenting these actions.
Therefore, the Thai government reiterates that it has always expressed willingness to negotiate a ceasefire. However, it is clear that the Cambodian military continues to deceive the international community through daily misinformation, contrary to the reality on the ground. In Thai proverb terms, this could be described as “taking credit for the good and blaming others for the bad.” Thailand remains open to ceasefire negotiations, but the Cambodian military's persistent attacks on civilian areas over the past three days remain deeply concerning.
